BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University soccer team
took on the University of Minnesota-Duluth today on the BSU
Field. The Bulldogs out-shot the Beavers 38-1 and took their
fifth straight conference victory beating the Beavers 10-0.
The UMD scoring started in the thirteenth minute. Katie Erickson
put the Bulldogs ahead to stay (1-0) on a crossing pass from
Nicole Fietz. Fietz would later add three goals of her own
to lead the Bulldogs. Two of those goals would be assisted
by Sarah Noonan made a total of five assists and scored a
goal in the game. Abby Metz would also add two goals.
The Beaver’s best scoring opportunity was late in the
first half when
Amanda Miller led the push
and made a nice pass to the open
Kelly Lessman.
But Lessman’s would not convert shooting just wide of
the net.
The Beavers are 3-7 on the season and 0-5 in NSIC competition.
They will be back in action October 19 and 20 looking for
their first NSIC win. In Saturday’s game the Beavers
will take on Northern State and University of Minnesota-Morris
comes to the BSU Field on Sunday (20). The games will mark
the last home games for the season. Both will be played on
the BSU’s home turf and will start at 12:00 p.m.
