The Bemidji State Beavers were out-shot 15-2 in a game where
MSU-Moorhead capitalized on the opportunities it had while
BSU could not.
The Dragons took the lead in the 16th minute when Maureen
Ross scored on a header off a corner kick from Kelsey Mellard.
The Beavers would get their best scoring opportunity just
a few minutes later when Lindsey Natwick would break away
from the pack and beat the MSUM goaltender only to be stopped
by the crossbar.
“We hit the crossbar early when it was 1-0 and were
pushing for a goal. Unfortunately we got scored on a couple
times later in the game,” commented coach Jim Stone
after the game.
Out-shooting the Beavers 12-1 in the second half, Magan Sawarynski
would score in the 80th minute and Mellard would add another
to bring the score to 3-0.
In the game, Nicole Dalka allowed three goals and made 9 saves.
The Beavers will travel to Crookston, Minn. tomorrow to face
the University of Minnesota-Crookston in NSIC competition.
The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
