ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Bemidji State soccer team (8-9-0,
1-4-0 NSIC) was shut out 5-0 at Northern State (10-7-0, 3-2-0
NSIC) Saturday afternoon. The Wolves netted three goals in
the first half and two in the second half and outshot the
Beavers 22-7 in the contest.
NSU's Melissa Gamble put the home team a quick two-goal advantage
with markers in the 3rd and 11th minute of the match. Jill
Laydon added a third first-half score in the 24th minute.
The Wolves broke the game open further late in the second
stanza, picking up goals from Suanne Lampert and Kathleen
Acunto in the 69th and 83rd minute to secure a convincing
5-0 triumph for Northern State.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kari Torgerson (New
Hope, Minn.) made six saves in the loss for BSU, while Theresa
Alexander stopped four shots for NSU.
The Beavers will look to get back on track with their final
home game of the season on Monday, Oct. 25 at the BSU Soccer
Complex. The match begins at 3:30 p.m.
