BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State soccer
team was shut out 2-0 by St. Scholastic Sunday afternoon at
the BSU Soccer Complex in the last non-conference game of
the season for the Beavers. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kari
Torgerson (New Hope, Minn.) stopped a season-best
14 shots in the loss.
St. Scholastica junior Jen Seip tallied the first goal of
the match in the 11th minute, while sophomore Nicole Seguin
gave the Saints a 2-0 advantage in the 55th minute of the
contest.
After being outshot 12-5 by CSS in the first half, Bemidji
State outshot St. Scholastica 11-3 in the second half of play,
but the Beavers were unable to put the ball in the net.
Kristin Lammi made 12 saves on the afternoon, compared to
Torgerson’s 14.
The loss drops BSU’s record to 7-5-0 and CSS improves
to 11-1-0. The Beavers open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
competition next weekend on the road against Concordia-St.
Paul and Winona State. Bemidji State challenges the Golden
Bears on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. and takes on the Warriors
on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
