Bemidji State Swept by St. Cloud State, 3-0

ST. CLOUD , Minn. - St. Cloud State University hit .319 as a team and collected 49 kills in a three-game victory over the Bemidji State University volleyball team (30-20, 30-22, 30-19) Wednesday at Hallenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minn. Freshman Brittney Burns (Henderson, Minn.) led the Beavers recording her first collegiate double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 10 digs.

The Huskies were effective on offense from the the first serve. SCSU hit better than .265 in each of the three games including a .364 hitting percentage in game one. The Beavers, the other hand, hit over .125 in just one game including a season-low .025 hitting percentage in a 30-19 loss in game three for a match average of .108.

The bright spots for BSU Wednesday were senior Kristine Engman (Virginia, Minn.), freshman Brittney Carlson (New Prague, Minn.) and Burns. Engman collected more than ten digs for the third consecutive match and the eighth time this season as she led BSU with14. With three block assists, Carlson led the Beavers on the front line and Burns led the team in kills for the tenth time this season while collecting a double-digit dig total and hitting .379 (14k-3e-29att).

The Huskies were led by a 12-kill effort from Leah Herrbolt while Sierra Nowak made 21 assists and Megan Hardy recorded a match-high 24 digs.

The Beavers (6-12; 2-5 NSIC) will wrap up their current road swing Friday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference affair at the University of South Dakota.
