Jamestown, N.D. -- Sophomore Megan Wallner notched her second goal of the season but it would not be enough as the Bemidji State soccer team battled Jamestown College to a 1-1 dead-lock Saturday in Jamestown N.D.
After yesterday's 6-0 win at Mayville State, the Beavers looked to be on the same route against the Jimmies after Wallner (Bemidji, Minn.) found the back of the net past Jamestown goalkeeper Dianna Rachul in the 22nd minute. The Beaver offense, however, was stifled after scoring it's seventh goal in the last 74 game minutes. The Jimmies' Rachul ended the game with six saves.
On the other end the Bemidji State defense, lead by captains Erin Foss (Sr.; Bismarck, N.D.) and Cristina Egnell (Sr.; Brooklyn Center, Minn.) held the Jamestown charge scoreless for the first 81 minutes until JC's Amy Spoon dumped one past BSU goalie Jessica Meath (Fr.; Bethel, Minn.). Meath came in the game in the 65th minute and recorded three saves. Kari Torgerson (Jr.; New Hope, Minn.) started the game for the Beavers, recording four saves.
BSU will be action Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. when they host North Dakota at the BSU Soccer Complex in Bemidji. The teams will meet for the sixth time, with the Fighting Sioux downing the Beavers on the previous five occasions.
