its final contest of the 2006 regular season to Minnesota
State University Moorhead, 3-0 (30-14, 30-22, 30-24), Friday
evening at Alex Nemzek Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn.
Jennifer Janckila (So., MB, Appleton, Wis.) paced the Beaver
offense with eight kills and hit .286 (8-2-21) while Alaina
Adams (Jr., OH, Halstad, Minn.) added seven and posted 15
digs.
The Dragons were led by Meagan Brandon who collected 16 kills
and equaled Mary Sussenguth with a match-high seven blocks
as MSUM more than doubled BSU's blocking output with 11.5
on the night.
Three Dragons reached double-figure dig totals with Calla
Oftedahl leading the way with 19.
The win increases MSUM's slight lead in the all-time series
to 59-55-1. It also extended its winning streak over the Beavers
to seven matches.
Bemidji State wraps up the regular season with an overall
record of 7-24 while going 3-15 in NSIC play.
Despite dropping to No. 9 in the NSIC standings BSU will claim
the No. 8 seed in the conference tournament since the seventh-place
University of Mary is not eligible for NCAA Tournament play
and since the winner of the NSIC event gains an automatic
berth into the regional tournament, the Marauders cannot participate.
The conference tournament will be played Nov. 2-4 at Gangelhoff
Center on the campus of the regular-season champion and No.
1 seed Concordia University-St. Paul. As the lowest seed in
the tournament, BSU draws the host Golden Bears with the time
to be determined.
