MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Bemidji State University goalkeepers Kari
Torgerson (Sr., New Hope, Minn.) and Jessica
Meath (So., Bethel, Minn.) combined to hold Minnesota
State University, Moorhead scoreless Saturday afternoon in
Moorhead, Minn., to vault BSU to
a 3-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory.
The Beavers and Dragons felt eachother out during the first
30 minutes of play, but Kelly Hyvare (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) broke the seal on the MSUM
net notching her eighth goal of the season during the 32nd
minute.
Kaitlin Wolff (Jr., East Grand Forks, Minn,) took
a pass from Danielle Uphoff (Fr., Brainerd,
Minn.) to put BSU up 2-0 before the half (43rd). The tally
stands as the first of the fall for Wolff and gives Uphoff
a third helper.
The Beavers would come out of the break to add to their lead.
NSIC scoring leader posted her league-leading ninth goal of the
season just four minutes in to the second half (48:32) unassisted.
In the net, BSU goalkeepers turned away all four Dragons'
shots on goal as Torgerson posted three saves during the first
half of play and Meath recorded one playing the final 45 minutes
of the contest.
The shut out stands as the Beavers' fourth of the season and
the second time Torgerson and Meath have combined for a blanking
in 2006.
Bemidji State moves to 5-4-0 on the season and 2-1-0 in NSIC
play. The team travels to St. Paul, Minn. tomorrow to battle
Concordia University-St. Paul in a 1:00 p.m. NSIC tilt.
