DULUTH, Minn. (Romano Gymnasium) - The Bemidji
State University volleyball team dropped its eighth consecutive match
at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, Minn. Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs
earned the season sweep over Bemidji State by scores of (25-7, 25-11,
25-13).
Errors and hitting was the big
difference between Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State this afternoon.
Bemidji State hit below .100 for the seventh consecutive match hitting
just .042 (20k-17e-71at) while committing 30 errors in the match.
Minnesota Duluth hit a sizzling .580 (46k-6e-69at) committing just 11
errors.
Bemidji State was led by Nicole Olson (So., MB, Baudette, Minn.) for the seventh time this season as she hammered down eight kills. Jennifer Janckila (Sr., MB, Appleton, Wis.) and Courtney Bitter (Fr., S, Bemidji, Minn.) each tallied three kills in the match for the Beavers.
Bitter
led the Beavers on the defensive side of the ball with three digs. The
Bemidji, Minn. native also led the Beaver offensive charge for the 25th
time this season as she posted 17 set assists.
The
Bulldogs had a very balanced offensive attack as Lindsey Clairmont led
UMD with a match-high 10 kills while hitting .833 (10k-0e-12at) in the
match. April Hansen spiked down nine kills while Jamie Lakatos had
eight kills in the match. Rachel Jacobson recorded a match-high 10 digs
on the defensive side of the ball while Katie Gangelhoff had 40
assists.
The Beavers struggled with the
serving of Minnesota Duluth as the Bulldogs recorded seven services
aces in the match. Gangelhoff recorded three of the Bulldogs aces while
Hannah Johnson served up two aces in the match. For just the second
time this season the Beavers were held with zero ace serves.
With
the loss the Beavers fall to 9-86-1 all-time versus Minnesota Duluth.
With the win the Bulldogs earn a season series sweep over the Beavers.
Minnesota Duluth extends its win streak to nineteen over the Beavers.
Bemidji
State (6-19; 2-11 NSIC) will return home next weekend for two Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches. On Friday, Oct. 31, the Beavers
will welcome the Mavericks from Minnesota State to the BSU Gymnasium
for a 7 p.m. affair followed by a 4 p.m. match with Southwest Minnesota
State on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Bemidji State
University, located in Bemidji, Minn., is an NCAA Division II
institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
(NSIC).
