JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Civic Center) -- The Bemidji State
University men’s basketball team extended its win streak to two
games Thursday evening as the Beavers defeated the Jamestown College
Jimmies, 61-50 in non conference action from the Civic Arena in
Jamestown, N.D.
Despite being out rebounded
29-31 in the game the Beavers out shot the Jimmies by ten percentage
points while sinking nine more field goals. The Beavers shot 46.4
percent (25-56) from the field and 29.4 percent (5-17) from the
three-point arc while Jamestown was 17-of-47 (.362) from the field and
4-of-15 from behind the three-point line (.267).
Junior guard Seth Haake
(Eden Prairie, Minn.) paced a trio of BSU players scoring at least 10
points with 16 including a season and career-high seven made field
goals. Jake Lindstrom (Fr., G, Cottage Grove, Minn.) posted a career-best 14 while Patrick Cassidy (So., F, St. Paul, Minn.) collected 10 points and five rebounds. Haake led all BSU players with seven rebounds while James Gibson (Sr., G, Miami, Fla.) grabbed six. Haake also had a game-high four steals.
Jamestown
was led by the duo of John Peabody and B.J. Mertens. Peabody tied
BSU’s Haake for the game-high with 16 points on 6-of-10 from the
field while Mertens netted 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Peabody had a
game-high 10 rebounds to go along with his 16 points for the games lone
double-double performance.
With the win the
Beavers even the season series with the Jimmies to 1-1 as BSU avenged a
53-52 loss suffered on Nov. 18 at the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers also
improve to 26-13 in the all-time series with Jamestown.
BSU
is also on a two game winning streak with the win which is just the
third time under head coach Matt Bowen that BSU has had a two game
winning streak. The streak is the longest under the tutelage of Bowen.
Next
up for Bemidji State (3-6; 2-2 NSIC) is the University of
Wisconsin-River Falls (5-4; 2-1 WIAC). The opening tap is set for 7
p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20. BSU will be looking to extend its winning
streak to three game for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

State University, located in Bemidji, Minn., is an NCAA Division II
institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
(NSIC).
