Unbeaten streak comes to an end at Lake Superior State, 1-0

Box Score

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Taffy Abel Arena) -- With just one second left in regulation Lake Superior State University's Alex Globke scored a power-play goal to break a scoreless tie, effectively snapping the Bemidji State University men's hockey team's unbeaten streak at seven games (4-0-3).

Suffering their first loss since Nov. 28, the Beavers outshout the Lakes 44-26 in the game, including a 24-15 edge in the first period, but were simply unable to find the back of the net.

With just 21 seconds remaining in the game and the score tied 0-0, Charlie O'Connor was whistled for cross-checking, supplying the Lakers with their first power-play opportunity of the game. Globke would take a pass from Garrett Clemment and his shot found its way past the BSU Goaltender, Michael Bitzer, moments before the final horn sounded.

Bitzer stopped 25 of 26 shots faced. He falls to 5-6-1 overall.

The Beavers, now 7-11-3 overall and 5-7-3 in WCHA play, will attempt to salvage a series split tomorrow when the same teams hit the ice for a 6:07 p.m. opening face-off.
