Bemidji State drops its match at No. 25 Winona State, 3-0

WINONA, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to No. 25 Winona State University 3-0 (13-25, 18-25, 19-25) Saturday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-up. The Beavers (5-18, 3-11) were led by junior Jessica Yost who tallied 13 kills and freshman Kori Leist who made four blocks in the match.

Bemidji State couldn’t match the offensive attack put on by the Warriors and totaled 23 kills while WSU had 53. Winona State also out-hit Bemidji State in hitting percentage after it hit .361 in the match to just .118 for the Beavers.

As a team, the Beavers made seven blocks to just two for the Warriors, but WSU dug 53 of BSU’s 93 attacks to while the Bemidji State could only make 33 digs.

Kayla DeJong led the Beavers with 12 digs, and freshman Hailey Kauling followed Leist with three blocks in the match.

The Beavers will return home next weekend and face Concordia-St. Paul University and Minnesota State University, Mankato Oct. 30-31.
