Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- The Bemidji State University soccer team earned a 1-1, double overtime draw with the University of Minnesota Duluth, Sunday, wrapping up the 2016 regular season 13-4-1.
Rachael Norton scored the Beavers’ lone goal in the 26th minute giving BSU a lead. The would hold into the 71st minute when the Bulldogs' Erika Hjort capitalized on a corner, heading the ball past BSU goalkeeper Catherine Arneson.
UMD controlled play for the majority of the second half and two, ten-minute overtime periods, but the Beavers got the best chance in the second overtime period when the ball slipped behind the Bulldogs’ back line. Senior Christine Szurkek and the UMD goalkeeper, Sisley Ng races to a ball rolling towards the goal line. Szurek got a touch on it, but pushed it wide of the goal.
Arneson finished with seven saves in 110 minutes of play and moves to 7-1-1 on the year.
The Beavers, who clinched a spot in the NSIC postseason and earned the right to host their first round match up, will find out their playoff fate later today. BSU will host the tournament game at 5 p.m. Nov. 2.
