Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University soccer team earned its ninth win of the year Sunday, and its seventh in Northern Sun Intercollegiate play, riding its defense to a 4-0 victory at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Senior Sarah Stram led the charge offensively, netting a goal and pitching in an assist as six different Beaver players registered a point.
The Beavers allowed the Dragons just one shot, holding a 24-1 edge in shots and didn't allow a single shot on goal for the the second straight game, 10-0.
Anna Fobbe got the start for BSU and collected her second shutout of the season. She improves to 5-2-0.
Bayley Ertl got the Beavers on the board in the 27th minute on a pass from Emma Brechlin. The goal would stand as the eventual game-winner--Ertl's team-leading third of 2016.
Just 4:43 into the second half, Raquel Thelen gave BSU a 2-0 lead, netting her third goal of her junior season. Stram was credited with her eighth assist of the season on the play.
Stram made the score 3-0 in the 53rd minute, connecting on a penalty kick before freshman Allie Erickson settled the score at 4-0 in the 75th minute with Brenna Keeler adding her first collegiate assist.
The Beavers (9-3; 7-2 NSIC) continue their current three-match road swing next weekend. BSU will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. Saturday for an 11 a.m. matchup with Augusta University. Sunday the team will travel to Wayne, Neb. for a 1 p.m. matinee at Wayne State College.
