Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team outshot St. Cloud State University, 31-14, but failed to find the back of the net and fell to the Huskies (5-8-1, 4-7-1-1 WCHA) 3-0, Saturday afternoon. The Beavers fall to 5-8-1 (3-8-1 WCHA) and remain four points back of SCSU in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Conference standings.

St. Cloud State started the scoring in the game for the second straight night, but today’s first goal would only take 22 seconds when Hannah Potrykus tipped in a shot on the game’s very first shot on net that beat goaltender Brittni Mowat for the early 1-0 lead. The Beavers would control the puck for most of the period however, and totaled 13 shots to five for the Huskies but failed to find the back of the net before the intermission break.

The Huskies would continue to roll in the second period and 5:15 into the period, Ivy Dynek scored her second goal of the series to put SCSU up 2-0. St. Cloud State would add another goal in the period after Potrykus scored her second of the game while on a breakaway. The scoreboard would remain unchanged for the remainder of the period with the Beavers down 3-0 but up 24-10 on the shot chart.

The third period saw limited chances throughout the period with each team combining for just 11 shots. Bemidji State totaled seven in the period but couldn’t beat goaltender Janine Alder as the freshman posted her second career shutout.

The Beavers had two chances with the extra attacker but finished 0-for-2 on the power play while the Huskes also had two chances but the Beavers’ penalty kill stopped each advantage.

Mowat earns the loss in net after stopping 11-of-14 shots and now has a 4-7-1 record this season while Alder improves to 5-5-1.

The Beavers (5-8-1; 3-8-1-0 WCHA) hit the road for a Thanksgiving weekend WCHA series at the University of Minnesota. The Beavers and Gophers open the series at 2:07 p.m. Saturday at Ridder Arena and will wrap up the two-game set with a 2:07 p.m. opening face-off Sunday.
