Beavers ousted from NSIC Tournament, 3-0

MINOT, N.D. (Herb Parker Stadium) -- Minnesota State University, Mankato ended the Bemidji State University soccer team's run through the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament one match short of the conference tile, as the Mavericks handed the Beavers a 3-0 semifinal round loss Friday in Minot, N.D.

Locked in a scoreless tie through 44 minutes of play, the Beavers were whistled for a foul and MSU's Dana Savino took the ensuing free kick and converted to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

MSU out shot the Beavers 14-4 in the first half with a 5-1 edge in shots on goal and would do more of the same during the final 45 minutes.

The Mavericks came out in the second half getting goals from Jenny Hoerter and Alesha Duccini during the first 13:11 to stretch their lead to 3-0.

BSU was not unable to bounce back. MSU finished the game with a 22-8 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Arneson allowed three MSU goals and made five saves in the loss.  Her record dips to 8-2-1 on the season.

The Beavers, now 14-5-1 overall leave their postseason fate in the hands of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Chasing the program’s first appearance in the national tournament and ranked seventh in the most recent regional rankings, the Central Region Tournament field will be announced at 5 p.m. Monday.
