Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sophomore Abby Halluska posted three points and senior goaltender Brittni Mowat made 23 saves to propel the Bemidji State women's hockey team to a 5-1 victory Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.

The Beavers jumped out to an early lead on the first collegiate goal of Haley Mack. The freshman took a pass from Halluska and Lisa Laiti to make good on BSU's first power-play opportunity of the day, kick starting a special teams unit that went 2-for-6 and held the Tigers without a goal on five opportunities.

Owing a 1-0 lead after the first period of play, the Beavers got goals from Jaqueline Kaasa and Lauren Miller just 22 seconds a part to stretch their lead to 3-0 to pen the final frame.

Emily Bergland scored her second goal in as many nights 4:22 into the third period putting BSU up 4-0.

Mowat was in line for a shutout, making 21 saves through the over 53 minutes of play, but Kathryn Kennedy found the back of the net to get the Tigers on the board late.

Halluska tacked on a second power-play goal at the 15L58 mark to settle the score at 5-1.

Mowat improved to 7-10-1, totaling 30 saves in 59:28 in the crease.

The Beavers, now 8-11-1 overall and 4-11-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play, take just over a month off for winter break. BSU returns to action Jan. 12-13 when it travels to Columbus, Ohio to battle Ohio State University in a two-game league series.
