FAYETTE, Iowa (Pattison Field) -- Catherine Arneson turned aside all five shots she faced and Bayley Ertl scored her fourth goal of the season to power the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Upper Iowa University Sunday.

After trading blows for the first 20 minutes, Ertl got the break BSU needed. She found the back of the net to give the Beavers the lead, 1-0. Raquel Thelen was credited with the assist on the play. She now has five helpers on the season, one shy of the team leader Sarah Stram.

Bemidji State held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal at the half before packing it in to protect its lead. UIU held BSU without a shot in the final 45 minutes and finished with an 11-9 edge, while the teams had five shots apiece.

The shutout is the first of 2016 for Arneson and stands as the second for the Beavers' defense. She moves to 2-1 in 2016.
