Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- Junior goalkeeper Catherine Arneson turned aside seven shots to earn her third win of the 2016 season and power the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 4-1 Northern Sun Intercollegaite Conference victory over the University of Mary Thursday evening at Chet Anderson Stadium.

The Beavers were out shot 18-12 in the game, but Miranda Famestad, Bayley Ertl, Sarah Stram and Rachael Norton all connected with the back of the net to lift BSU to its sixth victory.

Tied through 21 minutes of play, BSU took the first lead of the game in the 22nd minute. Famestad posted her team-leading fifth goal of the season when she connected a header off of Raquel Thelen's corker kick. Not to be outdone, Ertl matched Famestad for the team's goal-scoring lead 11 minutes later when she beat the Marauder back line for her fifth goal of 2016.

The Beavers took the 2-0 edge into the halftime break, but U-Mary would cut the lead in half in the 49th minute. Alexis Nahring was credited with the goal.

BSU would add to its lead in the 75th minute when Stram was fouled at the top of the box. She converted the awarded penalty kick into her second goal of the season.

In the 88th minute, Norton would complete BSU's offensive attack after beating the U-Mary goalkeeper.

The Beavers, now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC, travel to Minot State University Sunday for a 1 p.m. league match up.
