Box Score BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Following the Bemidji State University soccer team’s 5-1 season-opening victory, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference officials have announced that BSU defender, Miranda Famestad, has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week, for her role in the win.
Famestad, a junior from Sioux Falls, S.D., anchored a defensive unit, which held NSIC-rival University of Minnesota Crookston to just four shots in 90 minutes of play, with just two on goal. In addition, she pitched in offensively, recording her first goal of the season, a header off a Raquel Thelen corner kick, in the 13th minute of play.
