Beavers lose tight match at Sioux Falls, 3-0

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team lost three close sets (24-26, 21-25, 20-15) to University of Sioux Falls Friday night in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Beavers (3-25, 0-19 NSIC) were led by freshman Becka Cronin who recorded eight kills in the match.

Freshman Becky Schroeder was also a key factor in the Beavers offense, contributing seven kills on 16 attacks for a team-high .468 hitting percentage. Sophomore Julie Touchett added six kills on .294 hitting percentage while junior Sami Leach coordinated the Beavers attack, totaling 24 assists.

Kelli Auer, Taylor Nier and Emma Hallmann led the Beavers defense tallying nine digs each while junior Maddie Filipiak and freshman Anna Averkamp tied for the team lead with three blocks each.

The Beavers wrap-up the 2017 season tomorrow by traveling to No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State University to continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
