Beavers fall to No. 22 Wildcats, 3-0

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to No. 22 Wayne State College (Neb.), 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-9), Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

Bemidji State freshman Anna Averkamp led the Beavers (3-23, 0-17 NSIC) with nine of the team’s 23 kills in the match while also hitting at a .148 efficiency.

The Beavers were out-hit in the match 39 kills to 23 by the Wildcats (17-10, 10-7 NSIC) while Wayne State’s Jaci Brahmer led the match with 11 kills.

Bemidji State’s defense played well totaling 55 digs in the match led by Sami Leach, Kelli Auer and Becka Cronin who each tallied 13 digs. Leach also led the Beavers in assists with 13 for her fifth double-double of the season while Julie Touchett totaled four kills.

The Beavers host their final home match of the season tomorrow at 3 p.m. when they welcome No. 16 Augustana University (S.D.) to town. The Beavers will honor their parents before the match for Parent’s Night.
