Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to Minnesota State University, Mankato 3-0 (15-25, 23-25, 18-25) Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers (5-17, 2-12 NSIC) were led by junior Julie Touchett who recorded seven kills and six blocks in the match.
The Beavers totaled just 20 kills in the match and hit 23 attacking errors in the match while Minnesota State totaled 37 kills and hit at a .171 hitting percentage (37-19-105). The Beavers tied the Mavericks with 41 team digs and out-blocked MSU, 9-7, but were out-matched at the serve after the Mavericks totaled eight aces compared to four for BSU.
Freshman Greta Paszek followed Touchett with four kills while Anna Averkamp and Jessica Reega each added three. Freshman Haley Stolt led the Beavers’ hitter in hitting percentage by hitting at a .250 clip with two kills. Freshman Mary Campbell set the ball for BSU and earned 18 assists.
On defense, the Beavers were led by sophomore Becka Cronin who totaled 11 digs while junior Emma Hallmann added nine. Touchett paced the Beavers with six blocks (2s-4a) while Averkamp (1s-2a) and Reega (0s-3a) each totaled three.
Bemidji State begins a four-match road trip next weekend and will play at University of Upper Iowa and Winona State University, Oct. 19-20.
