Box Score WINONA, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to Winona State University 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 12-25) Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers (5-19, 2-14 NSIC) were led by freshman Greta Paszek who recorded nine kills and junior Emma Hallmann who tallied 20 digs defensively.
The Beavers totaled 29 kills in the match but had 19 attack errors to hit just .086 as a team. The Warriors totaled 45 kills with only 14 errors to hit at a high .267 clip. The Beavers trailed the Warriors in digs at 61-54 while each team totaled five team blocks.
Senior Maddie Filipiak followed Paszek with eight kills while Julie Touchett and Anna Averkamp followed with six and five kills, respectively. Filipiak led the Beavers by hitting at a .500 clip after recording eight kills on 16 attacks with no errors. Freshman Mary Campbell set the ball for BSU and earned 24 assists while recording three service aces.
On defense, the Beavers were paced by Hallmann who totaled 20 digs for her second match in a row with 20 or more digs while Haley Stolt and Kelli Auer added 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Filipiak had a hand in all five of the Beavers’ blocks and totaled two solo and three assisted.
Bemidji State continues play on the road and will play at Minot State University and University of Mary, Oct. 26-27.
