Box Score MINOT, N.D. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to Minot State University 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 23-25) Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers (5-20, 2-15 NSIC) were led by sophomore Anna Averkamp who recorded eight kills while Julie Touchett and Maddie Filipiak each added seven.
The Beavers totaled 34 kills in the match and hit .186 as a team but couldn’t keep up with Minot State who totaled 51 kills on .310 hitting efficiency. MiSU totaled just 15 errors in 116 attacks and were led by Shelby Spuller and Emily Falldorf who recorded 15 and 13 kills, respectively.
Senior Maddie Filipiak paced the Beavers by recording her third consecutive match without an attacking error and hit .350 on 20 attacks while Touchett followed by hitting at a .200 clip. Freshman Mary Campbell set the ball for Bemidji State and totaled 29 assists while also recording seven assists defensively.
On defense, the Beavers were paced by junior Emma Hallmann who totaled 15 digs and needs just 26 digs to reach the 1,000 dig milestone. The Beavers were out-blocked by Minot State 5-4 and were led by Touchett who totaled three blocks (0s-3a).
Bemidji State concludes the road portion of its season tomorrow morning and will face University of Mary in Mary, N.D., at 11 a.m.
