Bemidji State falls on the road at Wayne State

WAYNE, Neb. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to Wayne State College (Neb.) 3-0 (11-25, 16-25, 13-25) on the road Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers (5-13, 2-8 NSIC) were led by senior Maddie Filipiak and freshman Greta Paszek with seven kills each.

The Beavers struggled to crack the conference’s best blocking defense and hit just .099 as a team in the match and were out-hit 40 kills to 25.

Junior Julie Touchett led the Beavers by hitting at a .333 clip and totaled six kills while Paszek followed with a .312 efficiency and Filipiak hit .278. BSU totaled four team blocks in the match and were led by Touchett with four assisted blocks.

Junior Emma Hallman led the Beaves’ backcourt with 16 digs while Kelli Auer and Mary Campbell followed with eight and seven, respectively. Campbell also passed the ball to the Beavers attackers and earned 20 assists.

Bemidji State continue the road weekend tomorrow night and will face Augustana University (SD) at 5 p.m. in Sioux Falls, S.D.
