Box Score CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to University of Minnesota, Crookston 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 19-25) Tuesday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Beavers (5-15, 2-10 NSIC) were led by sophomore Becka Cronin who totaled nine kills in the match.
“Just couldn’t execute on anything,” said head coach Kevin Ulmer. “Every aspect of the game, blocking, passing and attacking and just disappointed in our effort. Just need to enforce staying focused and doing your job so that we can compete this weekend.”
The Beavers totaled 30 kills in the match to tie the Golden Eagles (4-16, 2-10 NSIC) but hit just .045 (30-25-110) as a team compared to .176 (30-12-102) by UMC.
The Beavers’ defense totaled 53 digs in the match compared to just 49 by UMC and were led by Cronin who recorded 14 while Haley Stolt added 10. The Beavers were out-blocked in the match by UMC, 5-3.
Senior Maddie Filipiak followed Cronin with six kills and hit at a .278 clip while Julie Touchett followed with five. Freshman Mary Campbell set the ball for BSU’s attack and totaled 26 assists while also picking up four kills and four digs on the defensive side.
The Beavers return home to host No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul University and Minnesota State University, Mankato this weekend, Oct. 12-13.
