Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University women’s hockey junior Haley Mack scored her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Beavers in a 3-0 shutout of St. Cloud State University in game one of their series with the Huskies. The Beavers (3-12-1, 3-7-1-0 WCHA) were led by the line of Mack, Clair DeGeorge and Lydia Passolt who scored eight-of-nine points on the night.

The Beavers’ defense was also clicking in the game and held the Huskies (5-12-1, 2-9-0-0 WCHA) to just 11 shots on goal and redshirt sophomore Lauren Bench earned her fourth career shutout and second of the season to move into fifth on BSU’s all-time career shutouts list.

The Beavers garnered three points in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings and now sit fifth with 10 points.

DeGeorge assisted on all three goals by Mack to earn her third career three assist game while Passolt assisted on two and senior Emily Bergland added an assist in the third period to reach the scoreboard. Mack’s hat trick is the first hat trick for the Beavers since Lauren Miller scored three times against Lindenwood on Jan. 3, 2015.

Bemidji State dominated play in the offensive zone and outshot the Huskies 43-11 in the game for its highest shot tally of the season.

Mack opened the scoring at the 11:29 mark of the first period after Passolt generated a rebound off a shot attempt from the left circle. Mack then scored her second of the game with just 44 seconds remaining in the second period off a one-timed shot. She sealed the victory late in the third period with a power-play goal at 18:46.

Bemidji State ended the game 1-for-4 on the power play and held the Huskies scoreless on their two attempts and now have killed twelve consecutive power plays and 36-of-41 on the year.

Bemidji State and St. Cloud State conclude the two-game series tomorrow afternoon when the two teams meet for a 3:07 p.m. puck drop.
