No. 12 Beaver Soccer extends winnning streak to seven matches

Box Score

FAYETTE, Iowa  (Pattison Field) -- The nationally-ranked Beavers set the tone early Friday, netting three goals in the first 10 minutes of play en route to a 5-1 victory at Upper Iowa University--the Beavers seventh consecutive victory.

Ally Smith and Rachael Norton each scored twice, Dani Nelson added her fourth goal of the season and Alana Mattson contributed a pair of assists in the Beavers' highest goal output and largest margin of victory of the season.

Smith got BSU on the board in the fourth minute taking a long crossing pass from Mattson in transition and cashing in her fourth goal of 2018 from 12 yards out. Smith found the back of the net again in the eighth minute depositing a Norton rebound. Matt son collected her second assist of the match on the play to duplicate a career-high.

The offensive pressure continued in the 10th minute when Norton capitalized when the Peacock goalkeeper mishandled the ball in the box. The senior quickly booted her sixth goal of the season into the virtually open net.

The Beavers would stretch their lead to 4-0 in the 18th minute when Nelson scored on a free kick from distance.

UIU cut its deficit to 4-1 just before the halftime break when Maida Alijagic scored a penalty kick.

Second half scoring was limited to a Norton penalty kick goal, her team-best seventh goal of 2018 ranking her fifth in the nation in goal scoring.

ANna Fobbe improved to 7-0-0 in the match making five saves.

The win helped BSU improve to 7-0-0 on the season and remain perfect in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with a 4-0-0 record.

BSU now travels to Winona, Minn. for a 1 p.m. match up with Winona State University Sunday. A win versus the Warriors would match a program-best winning streak of eight matches set from to Sept. 5-29 last fall.
