Bulldogs down Beavers, 60-40

BEMIDJI, Minn. (BSU Gymnasium) -- University of Minnesota Duluth's Sarah Grow scored eight of her team-high 11 points during the first half Friday, helping the Bulldogs open a 20-point halftime lead en route to a 60-40 victory over Bemidji State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate play.

The Bulldogs scored the first seven points of the game, and aided by six BSU turnovers, opened a 15-3 lead after eight minutes of play. The Beavers reeled UMD within nine points late in the first quarter, but sparked by a 3-pointer by Katie Stark and back-to-back lay ups by Brooke Olson, UMD opened the second on a 9-3 run as the Bulldogs extended their lead to a 37-17 lead at halftime.

Already clutching a 20-point edge, the Bulldogs began the second half on a 14-3 run, which included six points by Emma Boehm, to stretch their lead to 31 points, 51-20, with just over three minutes to go in the third quarter.

Bemidji State battled back in the fourth, shooting 6-of-11 (54.7) from the field and used a 10-3 run to during the final 5:59 of the game to settle the score at 60-40.

Shea Oman led the Beavers with eight points, while Brooklyn Bachmann added seven points and a team-best four rebounds in the loss.

The Beavers (3-9; 0-7 NSIC) return to action tomorrow then they host St. Cloud State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The opening tip off is set for 3:30 p.m. at the BSU Gymnasium.
