MARSHALL, Minn. – Junior Becky Schroeder totaled eight kills to lead the Bemidji State University volleyball team in a 3-0 loss (16-25, 21-25, 16-25) at No. 12 Southwest Minnesota State University Friday night to continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

Bemidji State hit just .130 in the match as a team compared to .284 by the Mustangs (12-5, 7-2 NSIC) and were led by senior Julie Touchett who hit .273 with four kills off of 11 attacks and just one error. Redshirt freshman Maddie Mackinac set the ball for the Beavers' offense and totaled 21 assists.

The Beavers defense struggle and totaled just one team block and allowed 56 kills by the Mustangs. Senior Emma Hallmann totaled a match-high 17 digs while Mackinac followed with 10 for the double-double.

Bemidji State will look to rebound when it continues its road trip at University of Sioux Falls tomorrow afternoon. The Beavers and Cougars, who are receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll, battle for NSIC positioning at 4 p.m., from Sioux Falls, S.D.
