Box Score

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Junior Becky Schroeder led the Bemidji State University volleyball team with 11 kills and 17 digs to record her second double-double of the season as the Beavers (5-14, 2-9 NSIC) fell 3-0 (31-33, 16-25, 21-25) at University of Sioux Falls.

The Beavers battled the Cougars (14-6, 6-5 NSIC), who are receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches' Association poll, tough in the first set and led 22-17 late in the set but USF rallied and forced extra points before ultimately wining 33-31.

Bemidji State then fell 25-16 in the second set and 25-21 in set three where the Beavers trailed by just one point at 21-20 before a 4-1 run by the Cougars finished the set and match.

BSU hit .158 as a team and totaled 38 kills but had no answer for the Cougars' attack that hit .326 and totaled 57 kills.

Behind Schroeder, senior Julie Touchett and sophomore Haley Stolt each recorded eight kills while freshman Samiya Jami followed with seven. Redshirt freshman Maddie Mackinac earned 33 assists setting the ball for the Beavers. On defense, senior Emma Hallmann followed Schroeder with 13 digs while Touchett led the Beavers with four blocks.

Bemidji State will look to snap its three-match losing skid next weekend when they host Augustana University and Wayne State College (Neb.), Oct. 25-26.
