Beavers stretch winning streak to four matches; Earn 1-0 victory at Sioux Falls

Box Score

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (USF Soccer Field) – For the fourth time in as many games, Bemidji State University sophomore forward Sara Wendt found the back of the net, Friday leading the Beaver soccer team to its fourth straight victory, a 1-0 win at the University of Sioux Falls.

Went put the Beavers on the board early. In the 10th minute of play, fellow sophomore Megan Majewski found Wendt with a pass and the Arden Hills, Minn. native deposited her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the lower left corner of the goal. That was all the offense BSU needed as the goalkeeping duo of Emma Riedi and Alyssa Stumbaugh combined for seven saves and the team’s third clean sheet of the season.

For Wendt, she has now recorded a point in four straight which includes four goals (two game-winning goals) and an assist for a team-best nine points.

BSU owned a 14-9 edge in total shots and a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.

The Beavers improve to 5-2-1 overall and remain unbeaten in league play at 5-0-1. Bemidji State will its NSIC road trip at 1 p.m. Sunday when it travels to Marshall, Minn. for a contest at Southwest Minnesota State University.
