Mavericks down Beavers in overtime in game one

MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State University, Mankato's Kelsey King scores 45 seconds into the 3-on-3 overtime to down the Bemidji State University women's hockey team 1-0 Friday night in game one of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Bemidji State senior goaltender Kerigan Dowhy continued her hot streak and stopped 28-of-29 shots from the Mavericks but falls to 2-8-2 on the season.

For the Beavers, it was their fourth consecutive game and seventh overtime game this season.

Bemidji State was outshot in the game 29-17 and came out empty on both of its two power-play chances. The Beavers have yet to score a power-play goal this season and are 0-for-21.

The Beavers have been snake-bitten the past few games and have failed to score a goal in their last two contests.

Bemidji State hopes to end its scoreless streak against the Mavericks for game two of their WCHA series tomorrow afternoon. Puck drop is slated for 3:07 p.m., from the Mayo Health Event Center.
