Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State University scored three unanswered goals before sophomore Taylor Nelson netted her first goal of the season as the Bemidji State University women's hockey team fell 3-1 in game two versus the Buckeyes Saturday afternoon. With the win, the second-ranked Buckeyes (6-0-0, 6-0-0 WCHA) complete the series sweep over the Beavers (1-3-0, 1-3-0 WCHA) and earned all six points in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings.

In her season debut, sophomore netminder Hannah Hogenson turned aside 24 shots by the Buckeyes while junior Reece Hunt tallied the lone assist on Nelson's goal for her team-leading third point of the season.

Ohio State opened the scoring with two goals in the first period from Jenna Buglioni (9:01) and Sophie Jaques (15:37) for the early 2-0 lead after the first period. Gabby Rosenthal scored the third and final goal for the Buckeyes 3:05 into the middle frame before Nelson answered with her first goal of the season with just 2:39 left in the frame. Neither team found the back of the net in the third period.

Hogenson earned the loss in the net for the Beavers after stopping 24-of-27 shots while Raygan Kirk earned her first win as a Buckeye by stopping 13-of-14 shots.

Bemidji State earned four power plays in the game but failed to score on all four attempts while its penalty kill stopped all three chances by Ohio State.
