Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team played one of its best matches of the season against (RV) University of Minnesota Duluth but the Beavers fell to the Bulldogs 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 27-25) in Saturday evening Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
With the loss, the Beavers snap its two-match win streak and fall to 2-21 (2-13 NSIC) on the season while the Bulldogs improve to 16-8 (8-7 NSIC).
Senior Anna Averkamp paced the Beavers with 13 kills and also hit .250 in the match after totaling 13 kills in 28 attacks and six errors. She was followed by sophomore Rilee Michaelson who totaled eight kills and hit a team-high .316 while sophomore Ashley Crowl followed with seven kills. The Beavers totaled 37 kills as a team while the Bulldogs totaled 47 and were led by Grace Daak with 14 kills.
Freshman Emily Wade earned 29 assists setting the ball for the Beavers' attack and also added two kills. BSU's defense totaled 44 digs as a team and were led by sophomore Lauren Justesen with 16 while junior Meeghen Dahlager followed with seven.
Averkamp also added a block and assist at the net for the Beavers while sophomore Rylie Bjerklie recorded three block assists and freshman Lauren Sitter and Michaelson each had two.
Bemidji State will have a quicker turnaround before its next match when it travels to St. Cloud State University Tuesday, Nov. 2 to face the Huskies. The Beavers will then return home for their final home matches of the season and host Wayne State College and Augustana University.
