Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell in three sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-14) to No. 13 Wayne State College (Neb.) Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Beavers fall to 2-23 (2-15 NSIC) on the season and were led by senior Anna Averkamp who totaled nine kills and paced the team by hitting .444.
The Wildcats improved to 19-6 (12-5 NSIC) with the win and continue their quest to earn a spot in the NSIC Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 19-21.
Bemidji State hit .160 (33k-16e-106a) in the match compared to Wayne State who hit .322 (48k-11e-115a) and totaled 48 kills. Following Averkamp was sophomore Ashley Crowl who recorded eight kills in 32 attacks and hit .094 while sophomore Rilee Michaelson and freshman Lauren Sitter each added five kills.
Wayne State was led by Jazlin DeHaan who totaled 16 kills while Taya Beller followed with 10. Maggie Brahmer paced the Wildcats by hitting .563 in the match while Beller followed at .444.
The Beavers split time at the setters position with redshirt junior Maddie Mackinac and freshman Emily Wade. Mackinac led the team with 18 assists and picked up three digs on defense while Wade totaled 15 assists and added eight digs.
Crowl also paced the Beavers' defense with 11 digs while junior Meeghen Dahlager and sophomore Madison Weyker each totaled 10.
BSU totaled four blocks as a team and were led by sophomore Rylie Bjerklie with 2.5 blocks (2s-1a) while redshirt sophomore Ashley East recorded to block assists.
Bemidji State totaled three service aces including two from Averkamp.
The Beavers conclude play at home this season tomorrow afternoon and will honor its three seniors, Averkamp, Mackinac and Taylor Kot in part of Senior Day against Augustana University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m., from the BSU Gymnasium.
