Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – Three Bemidji State University volleyball seniors in Maddie Mackinac, Anna Averkamp and Taylor Kot played their final match at the BSU Gymnasium Saturday afternoon as the Beavers fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14) to Augustana University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
The Beavers fell to 2-24 (2-16 NSIC) on the season and were winless in all 10 of their home matches. The Vikings improved to 17-9 (12-6 NSIC) and are fifth in the NSIC standings to hold a spot in the NSIC Volleyball Tournament.
Bemidji State totaled 22 kills in the match and were led by Averkamp with eight while hitting .111 (8k-5e-27a) in the match. She was followed by sophomore Rilee Michaelson who totaled five kills and hit .214 (5k-2e-14a) while redshirt sophomore Ashley East paced the team by hitting .500 with three kills, no errors and six attacks.
Mackinac led the Beavers' attack with 11 assists while freshman Emily Wade added nine assists off the bench.
Sophomore Madison Weyker paced the Beavers' defense with 10 digs while Kot followed with five and sophomore Ashley Crowl added four. Freshman Lauren Sitter led th team with 1.5 blocks while sophomore Rylie Bjerklie and junior Rylee Pompa each had one.
Augustana out-hit BSU 41 kills to 22 while also hitting .261 as a team and were led by Callie Hohenhaus with nine kills. Payton Rosendahl and Maddy Guetter each added seven kills to follow Hohenhaus.
Bemidji State concludes the 2021 season next weekend and will travel to University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University, Nov. 12-13 to close the season on the road.
