Box Score MADISON, Wis. – Bemidji State University women’s hockey senior goaltender Kerigan Dowhy stopped 31-of-35 shots by No. 1 University of Wisconsin Friday afternoon but the Beavers were shutout by the Badgers 4-0 in game one of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
Wisconsin opened the scoring 10:39 into the first period when Brette Pettet scored her eighth goal of the season. The Badgers added to their total 6:28 later when Britta Curl scored her fifth goal of the season right after a 5-on-3 power play by Bemidji State. The Badgers would head into the first intermission with the two-goal lead and led 8-3 on the shot chart.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second period, but just 1:55 into the third period, Wisconsin extended its lead to 3-0 off the stick of Makenna Webster. The Badgers closed out the scoring in the game when Lacey Eden scored a power-play goal just 2:43 after Webster’s goal.
Bemidji State was held off the scoreboard for the third time this season after Wisconsin’s Kennedy Blair turned aside all 12 shots by the Beavers. Bemidji State was out shot 35-12 in the game.
With the loss, Dowhy falls to 2-10-2 on the season while Blair improves to 10-2-1.
Bemidji State and No. 1 Wisconsin play game two of their series tomorrow afternoon and will meet at 2:07 p.m.
