No. 2 Huskies bite back with 4-1 victory in St. Cloud

No. 2 St. Cloud State evens series with 4-1 win Saturday night

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 2 St. Cloud State University answered back Saturday night and earned a decisive 4-1 victory over the (RV) Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team Saturday afternoon in game two of their non-conference series in St. Cloud, Minn.
 
Bemidji State opened the game by scoring just 2:17 into the hockey game when fifth-year senior transfer Mitchell Martan scored a power-play goal for his fifth goal in six games to start the season. Bemidji State entered the first intermission with the one-goal lead but would be the last time with the lead in the game.
 
St. Cloud State evened the game in the second period when Veeti Miettinen scored a power-play goal at 7:19 of the middle frame. The Huskies didn't stop there and 6:53 later, Adam Ingram put the Huskies up 2-1 with an even-strength goal.
 
SCSU entered the second intermission with the 2-1 lead but extended its lead to 3-1 in the third period when Jami Krannila scored a short-handed goal at 8:56 of the period. The Huskies capped-off their scoring with 7:57 to play when Zach Okabe made it 4-1.
 
The Beavers now fall to 3-2-1 on the season while the Huskies improve to 7-1-0.
 
Junior Gavin Enright started just his second game of the season and falls to 1-1-0 after allowing four goals on 32 shots. The Beavers were heavily out-shot in the game, 39-19, for the first time this season and also went 21-of-70 in the face-off circle.
 
The Beavers now look to return home to Bemidji and resume Central Collegiate Hockey Association play by hosting Ferris State University at Sanford Center Nov. 4-5. Puck drop for game one is slated for 7:07 p.m. with game two at 6:07 p.m.
