Bemidji State Football looks to extend three-game winning streak

Beavers return home to host Concordia-St. Paul

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Football team hopes to extend its three-game winning streak in week six of the college football season and prepares to host Concordia University-St. Paul for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division match-up. The Beavers (3-2, 1-0 North) host the Golden Bears (0-5, 0-0 North) Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m., from Chet Anderson Stadium.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • BSU returns 14 starters (10 offense, 4 defense) from last year's team that recorded the first 10-win season in program history. The Beavers secured a share of the 2021 NSIC Championship, the second title in program history, and won the NSIC North Division outright for the first time last season.
  • Bolte was named the 2021 NSIC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career while offensive coordinator Karson Pike was selected as the 2021 NSIC Assistant Coach of the Year, also for the first time.
  • Bemidji State is 10-8 all-time against Concordia-St. Paul and is 6-2 when hosting the Golden Bears
  • The Beavers won the team's last meeting by a score of 42-14 in St. Paul Oct. 2, 2021. Brandon Alt threw for 354 yards off 18-of-31 attempts and three touchdowns while Sage Booker rushed for 88 yards aon 22 attempts.
  • Bolte is 2-1 in his head coaching career against the Golden Bears.
  • Bemidji State is one of four teams in Division II to average over 350 passing yards and 100 rushing yards.
  • The Beavers are fourth in DII and lead the NSIC by averaging 485 yards on offense and lead the NSIC (8th in DII) with a 40.8 scoring average.
  • Senior Brendan Beaulieu can become the program's all-time career receiving touchdown leader this weekend and needs one touchdown reception to surpass George Kadlec (26).
  • Junior quarterback Brandon Alt leads the NSIC and is fourth in Division II with 1,651 passing yards. His 17 touchdowns are second in DII and lead the NSIC.
  • Beaulieu's 617 receiving yards leads the NSIC and is 7th most in DII. His seven touchdowns also lead the NSIC and are fourth in DII.
  • His teammate on the otherside, Dhel Duncan-Busby is second in the NSIC with 5 receiving touchdowns and fourth with 463 receiving yards.
  • Bemidji State totaled 606 offensive yards last week at Minot State for the first time since Nov. 13, 2021 where the team gained 695 yards vs Mary. The Beavers also totaled 839 all-purpose yards, most since 888 in the same game last year.
  • Jalen Frye leads the Beavers' rushing attack and has totaled 331 yards on 85 attempts (3.9/a) for sixth in the NSIC. Junior Sage Booker follows with 174 yards on 58 attempts (3.0/a) and has totaled two touchdowns. Sophomore Jarrett Gronski has seen more action as of late and has totaled 126 yards on 20 attempts (6.3/a).
  • Bemidji State is led on defense by linebacker Max Buduris who has totaled 28 tackles including 17 solo tackles. He is followed by Spencer Wehr with 27 tackles (16s) while Stephen Hoffman and Cole Sorby have each totaled 23.
  • Zollie Kaplan paces the "Gang-Green" defense with five sacks including two last weekend and is tied for third in the NSIC.
  • Princeten Harris leads Bemidji State defensive backs with two interceptions  which is tied for 3rd in the NSIC while Colton Herman, Caleb Young and Jarrett Klein have each added one.
