Gang-Green defense dominates as Beavers earn fourth consecutive victory

BSU Football shuts-out Concordia-St. Paul in dominant 44-0 win at Chet Anderson Stadium

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Football "Gang-Green" defense dominated Saturday afternoon leading the Beavers to a 44-0 shutout victory over Concordia University-St. Paul at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers (4-2, 2-0 NSIC North) held the Golden Bears (0-6, 0-1 NSIC North) to just 238 yards on offense while the Beavers' offense racked up over 550 yards.
 
Bemidji State was held to just 13 points in the first half but exploded in the second half and scored 31 points including 21 in the fourth quarter.
 
The Beavers had their best rushing performance of the season by far and gained 224 yards on the ground led by senior Jalen Frye who totaled 103 yards on 22 attempts and one touchdown for his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season. He was followed by junior Sage Booker who totaled 60 yards on 15 attempts while Jarrett Gronski added 47 yards on 13 attempts.
 
Bemidji State's Brandon Alt threw for 255 yards on 17-of-26 passing and two touchdowns before he was replaced by Sam McGath in the fourth quarter. McGath also threw for two touchdowns in the game and went five-for-nine with 73 yards.
 
Leading the Beavers' receiving core was senior Brendan Beaulieu who totaled 140 yards on seven receptions with one touchdown to tie the Beavers' all-time receiving touchdown record with 27 career touchdowns. Grant Glazier, Bryce Duffy and Jake Hill all caught touchdowns for the Beavers marking six different student-athletes who scored touchdowns in the game.
 
The Gang-Green defense forced two fumbles in the game including one on their own three-yard line to preserve the shutout in the third quarter. Jarrett Klein and Caleb Young led the Beavers with seven tackles with Young pacing the team with five solo tackles and also forced a fumble.
 
Bemidji State will return to the road next weekend and travel to Minnesota State University, Moorhead in an attempt to retain the Battle Axe. The Beavers and Dragons kick-off Saturday, Oct. 15 at Noon in Moorhead. Minn.
