BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women's Soccer head coach
Jim Stone announced the commitment of 11 student-athletes for the Beavers' upcoming 2023 season during the NCAA's early signing period Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Madeline Davey (Chaska, Minn.),
Kadyn Ellevold (Cottage Grove, Minn.),
Jessica Emerson (Nowthen, Minn.),
Julia Freed (Roseville, Minn.),
Grace Kittel (Cedarburg, Wis.),
Megan Ko (Lake Oswego, Ore.),
Kiera Nelson (Bemidji, Minn.),
Sophia Rinaldi (Aurora, Colo.),
Lucy Stanton (Barrington, Ill.),
Ella Wade (Rogers, Minn.) and
Keely Yager (Lincoln, Neb.) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Bemidji State and play soccer for the Beavers next fall.
All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
The 2023 signing class for Stone is made up of five forwards, two midfielders, three defenders and one goalkeeper.

Madeline Davey – 5-6 – Forward – Chaska, Minn. (Homeschool/Chaska HS/Eden Prairie SC)
Davey is a five-year letterwinner for the Chaska High School girls soccer program… Three-time All-Metro West selection and once an honorable mention… Named MVP of her team twice… Multi-year member of the Olympic Development program… Captain of her high school team in 2021 and 2022… Helped her team to victory at the USA Cup in 2021… Captain of the Eden Prairie Soccer Club and helped them reach the National Cup Finals in 2022.
Personal: Daughter of Jesse and Sarah Davey… Born on August 9, 2004… Plans to major in Exercise Science while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys camping, hiking, working and spending time with family when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Maddy: "Maddy sas the qualities of a future leader; a relentless work rate coupled with great athleticism, confidence and kindness. In the Ally Smith mold, which is high praise."

Kadyn Ellevold – 5-7 – Forward – Cottage Grove, Minn. (East Ridge HS/Salvo)
Ellevold is a four-year letterwinner for the East Ridge High School girls soccer program… Helped the Raptors to a 10-8-0 record in 2022 and appearance in the Section 4AAA Semifinal match… Helped team USA win the USA Cup Championship against Iceland… Scored the game-winning goal against the No. 28 ranked team in the nation… Earned an academic letter at East Ridge High School.
Personal: Daughter of Justin and Ronda Ellevold… Born on Oct. 11, 2004… Plans to major in Exercise Science while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping and listening to music when not on the soccer pitch… Great Uncle Brad Ellevold ran cross country at Bemidji State.
Coach Stone on Kadyn: "Kadyn is a silky-smooth attacker who is very comfortable on the ball, with the pace to be dangerous off the ball too. Will bring a big smile and happiness into our team."

Jessica Emerson – 5-5 – Defense – Nowthen, Minn. (Elk River HS/BoReal)
Emerson is a five-year letterwinner for the Elk River High School girls soccer program and two-year letterwinner for the track program… Helped the Elks reach the Minnesota State Tournament and helped her club team win the National League… Member of her high school's National Honor Society.
Personal: Daughter of Jon Emerson and Sandy Julkowski… Born on April 18, 2005… Currently undecided on a major when attending Bemidji State… Enjoys skiing/snowboarding, baking, hunting and thrifting when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Jessica: "Is there a faster player in the NSIC? Explosive and capable of making hard overlapping runs from the back or even play as a winger. Great attitude, humble and kind."

Julia Freed – 5-9 – Defense – Roseville, Minn. (Roseville HS/North Oaks Blast)
Freed is a four-year letterwinner for the Roseville Area High School girls soccer program and two-year letterwinner for its track program… Helped the Raiders to a 7-9-0 record in 2022 and reach the Section 5AAA Quarterfinal… Helped her NOSC Blast Girls Sahara club team win nationals two years in a row at the U16 and U17 level... Went to the Minnesota State Tournament in the four-by-four and four-by-eight in track… Member of the school's National Honor Society, three years of A-Honor Roll and two-year academic letters.
Personal: Daughter of Mark and Kate Freed… Born on February 1, 2005… Looking into a Biology major while attending Bemidji State… Loves to read and run track when not on the soccer pitch.

Grace Kittel – 5-5 – Forward/Midfield – Cedarburg, Wis. (Cedarburg HS/Northshore United)
Kittel is a two-year letterwinner for the Cedarburg High Scholl girls soccer program… Competed for the Northshore United Soccer Club… Named team captain of the Bulldogs for 2022… 2021 All-Northshore Conference Honorable Mention… 2020 Journal Sentinnal I AM Sport Nominee… Team captain of the Northshore United... four-time Wisconsin State Cup finalists… Finished top-six at the USYS National Championships… 2020 Wisconsin TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year award winner… Five-time invite to the Region II ID Camp… Member of Cedarburg's National Honor Society, High Honor Roll and Spanish club.
Personal: Daughter of Eric and Jodi Kittel… Born on November 12, 2004… Currently undecided on a major at Bemidji State… Enjoys volunteering and homeless outreach, traveling, being outdoors and art when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Grace: "A very polished player, whom we had our eyes on for quite some time. She can score goals but equally assist. Could play up top or in attacking mid role. She has it and is an even better person than player which is saying a lot."

Megan Ko – 5-5 – Forward – Lake Oswego, Ore. (Lake Oswego HS/Portland Thorns)
Ko is a four-year letterwinner for the Lake Oswego High School girls soccer program… Competed for the Portland Thorns of the ECNL club soccer team… Three-time All-Three Rivers League First Team selection… Member of the Lake Oswego High School National Spanish Honor Society and Honor Roll.
Personal: Daughter of Thomas and Tamara Ko… Born on December 16, 2004… Plans to major in Business Administration while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys watching movies and trying new foods when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Megan: "A late find for us. Was too good to say no to. Has the potential to add to our attack and play the way we want to play. Skilled, can pass, dribble and shoot. Brought a bubbly positive personality on her visit…what more could want in a player."

Kiera Nelson – 5-8 – Goalkeeper – Bemidji, Minn. (Bemidji HS/Bemidji Extreme)
Nelson is a letterwinner for the Bemidji High School girls soccer and girls hockey programs… Competed for the Bemidji Extreme soccer club… Helped the Lumberjacks to a Prairie Lakes Conference Championship in 2022 and was named to the All-Prairie Lakes Conference Team in 2022… Helped the Lumberjacks to a second place finish in the Section 8A finals in 2020… Three year academic letterwinner at Bemidji High School.
Personal: Daughter of Blair and Jennifer Nelson… Born on May 13, 2005… Plans to major in Aquatic Biology with a Fisheries Biology Emphasis… Enjoys hunting, fishing and staying active when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Kiera: "Enormous upside. Two things an athlete can control; attitude & effort. She epitomizes that cliché. She brings a positive attitude, a can do attitude, a we can attitude and couples it with an incredible work-rate on a daily basis. Great kid who can make the big save."

Sophia Rinaldi – 5-8 – Defense – Aurora, Colo. (Homeschool/Eaglecrest HS/Colorado Rapids)
Rinaldi competed for the Eaglecrest High School girls soccer program as well as the Colorado Rapids soccer club… National Honor Society member, Silver medalist in the national Latin Exam and member of National Rural and Small Town Recognition program.
Personal: Daughter of Massimo and Christina Rinaldi… Born on April 15, 2005… Plans to major in Nursing while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys hiking, skiing, baking, reading and writing when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Sophia: "A big time soccer IQ which lends itself to center back role or defensive mid role. Soft touch, times out tackles well without fouling and keeps possession extremely well. A tough player with a gentle spirit."

Lucy Stanton – 5-7 – Midfield – Barrington, Ill. (Barrington HS/Libertyville FC 1974)
Stanton is a letterwinner for the Barrington High School girls soccer program and competed for the Libertyville FC 1974 soccer club… Helped the Fillies to a State runner-up finish in 2022 and Mid-Suburban League conference championship… Helped the FC 1974 club team place third at the State Cup in 2020 and 2021… Club team MVP in 2020… Competed at National Playoffs with club team in 2021 and member of the Illinois Olympic development program.
Personal: Daughter of Robert and Stacie Stanton… Born on June 25, 2005… Plans to major in Psychology while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys running and reading when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Lucy: "An offensive talent who loves the game and would play 24 hours a day if time allowed. Can run at players, pass & shoot. Continues our tradition of creative midfield players. Brings an attitude of gratitude that is contagious."

Ella Wade – 5-6 – Midfield – Rogers, Minn. (Rogers HS/Tonka Fusion Elite)
Wade is a five-year letterwinner for the Rogers High School girls soccer program and competed for the Tonka Fusion Elite soccer club… Captain for the Royals during the 2021 and 2022 seasons… All-Northwest Suburban Conference selection in 2021 and 2022 and honorable mention in 2020… Helped the Tonka Fusion Elite reach the finals at the USYS National Tournament in 20222… State Cup Champions in 2021 and 2022 and 2022 Regional Champions… Four-time Spotlight on Scholarship award winner, three-year National Honor Society member and regular on the A-Honor Roll.
Personal: Daughter of Rich and Jess Wade… Born on July 30, 2005… Currently undecided on a major while attending Bemidji State.
Coach Stone on Ella: "Poised on the ball, understands the game and has a competitive drive. Could play anywhere in the midfield, is skilled enough to spread the ball around and intelligent enough to control tempo. Kind and caring, brings a lot to the table for us."

Keely Yager – 5-6 – Forward/Midfield – Lincoln, Neb. (Lincoln East HS/402 DA)
Yager is a four-year letterwinner for the Lincoln East High School girls soccer program and competed for the 402 DA club soccer team… Five-time Nebraska State Cup Champion… Lincoln Journal Star All-State Honorable Mention and Omaha World Herald All-State Honorable Mention.
Personal: Daughter of Jesse Yager and Jennifer Yager Odgaard… Born on March 9, 2005… Currently undecided on a major while attending Bemidji State… Enjoys painting, going on walks and playing with her dogs when not on the soccer pitch.
Coach Stone on Keely: "A pacey winger who could also play in midfield or even outside back. Connects well and can break down defenses with quick and sharp movements. A vibrant personality who not only fits in but enhances us."
