HAMDEN, Conn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team snapped its six-game losing streak by defeating Sacred Heart University 4-1 Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the Nutmeg Classic hosted by Quinnipiac University.
 
Four different Beavers scored in the game for Bemidji State as it improves to 4-13-1 on the season.
 
After a scoreless first period, the Beavers opened the scoring in the game when sophomore Ella Anick scored her second goal of the season with 2:43 left in the second period. The Beavers weren't finished and just one minute later, senior Abby DeLaRosa scored the first goal of her career to extend the Beavers' lead to two.
 
Bemidji State then made it 3-0 in the third period when freshman Raeley Carney netted her third goal of the season 6:19 into the final frame. The Pioneers would stop the Beavers' scoring streak just 2:01 later with a goal from Kailey Smith. However, it would not be enough as Kayla Santl gave the Beavers the three-goal lead again with 3:10 to play with her first goal of the season.
 
Play was heavily favored in the offensive zone for Bemidji State as it out-shot Sacred Heart 50-16 in the game.
 
Bemidji State earned one power play in the game but came up empty on its chance while its penalty kill successfully denied the Pioneer's four power-play chances.
 
Junior Hannah Hogenson earned her third victory of the season and improves to 3-12-1 after stopping 15-of-16 shots.
 
Bemidji State now makes the long trip back home and will host University of Wisconsin at Sanford Center, Dec. 2-3.
