BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Football "Gang-Green" defense once again dominated and held Northern State University scoreless through the first three periods en route to a 24-14 victory over the Wolves Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

With the win, the Beavers (8-2, 5-0 NSIC North) won their eighth consecutive victory and clinch at least a share of the NSIC North Division title.

The Beavers totaled at least 500 yards on offense for the fifth time this season by totaling 502 against the Wolves (6-4, 6-4 NSIC North). The Beavers used a balanced attack in the game and rushed for 182 yards and threw for 320 yards through the air but all three touchdowns in the game were thrown by junior quarterback
Brandon Alt.

Alt went 24-for-34 in the game with 320 yards and three touchdowns for his sixth game of the season throwing for at least 300 yards.

Alt's main connection was senior
Brendan Beaulieu who caught eight passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns and became the program's all-time career receptions leader after surpassing Anthony Schreiber with 199 career receptions. Beaulieu is now the program's career receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receptions leader cementing himself as one of the all-time great receivers at BSU.

Beaulieu was followed by
Joey Baron who caught a career-high seven receptions for also a career-high 62 yards.

On the ground, senior
Jalen Frye led the Beavers with 79 rushing yards on 16 attempts for a 4.9 average. He was followed by
Jarrett Gronski who led the team with 20 rushing attempts and totaled 51 yards.

The Gang-Green defense was dominant and held the Wolves to just 252 yards of total offense and 14 points including no points through the first three quarters. The Beavers forced Northern State to punt the ball seven times and NSU went just 2-for-10 on third down.

Bemidji Sate forced three interceptions in the game with
Colton Herman,
Caleb Young and
Princeten Harris all intercepting the ball. Young led the Beavers with six tackles (4 solo) in the game while
Colbey Wadsworth followed with four (3 solo). The Beavers totaled two sacks in the game with
Darnell McCrea reaching the quarterback for one and Wadsworth and
Zollie Kaplan each earning half a sack.

Bemidji State concludes its 2022 regular season next weekend when the Beavers travel to Bismarck, N.D., to face University of Mary at 2:00 p.m.
