Turnover difference leads to 83-60 loss for Beavers at Wolves

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Wachs Arena) -- Bemidji State University men's basketball saw turnovers lead to an 83-60 loss Friday night to the hands of Northern State University at Wachs Arena. The Beavers gave away 17 turnovers compared to eight for the Wovles as BSU falls to 7-15 overall and 4-14 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while NSU improves to 16-11 and 10-9 in the NSIC.

The forward duo of John Sutherland and Dalton Albrecht led the Beavers in scoring with 32 combined points, including a team-high 18 points from Sutherland on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Albrecht led BSU with nine rebounds and shot 5-of-5 from the floor.

The Beavers put in the first basket of the game and held an 8-7 lead less than five minutes into play. The Wolves followed with a 12-4 run over a 2:29 span, going 5-of-5 from the field with two 3-pointers. Following back-and-forth scores, NSU got hot again with a 16-0 run behind 6-of-10 shooting and three 3-pointers to take a 37-16 lead.

After trailing at halftime, 53-27, Bemidji State improved its shooting to 48.3 percent from the floor but sank just 25.0 percent from beyond the arc (2-8). The Beavers scored the first three buckets of the second half to pull within 20 points, 53-33, before the Wolves took a game-high lead of 31 points late in the game.

Bemidji State finishes its weekend Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Minnesota State University Moorhead at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
