Dragons lead entirety of way in 83-63 Beaver loss

MOORHEAD, Minn. (BSU Gymnasium) -- Senior guard Brooklyn Bachmann recorded her 13th career 20-point game Friday night as the Bemidji State University women's basketball team fell at Northern State University, 75-67. Bachmann led BSU with 21 points as the Beavers fall to 13-9 overall and 11-7 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Sophomore center Rachael Heittola led BSU with 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting with six rebounds, two assists and one block. She was the only Beaver with at least 10 points while seniors Claire Wolhowe and Trinity Yoder each followed with nine points.

Senior Claire Wolhowe opened the scoring for BSU with the first of her three 3-pointers less than two minutes into play before a 9-3 lead for MSUM. The Dragons led by as many as eight points in the first quarter aided by five Beaver turnovers while senior Sydney Zerr hit a 3-pointer to begin the second quarter to draw BSU back within three, 21-18.

Junior Maddie Schires followed Zerr's 3-pointer with one of her own to cut the deficit to two points, 23-21, before a 7-1 run to give MSUM momentum and a 30-22 lead. Coming out of halftime with a 39-30 deficit, MSUM's lead grew to 19 points, 57-38, late in the third quarter.

Bemidji State closes out its regular season Thursday, Feb. 17 at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Saturday, Feb. 19 at home during senior day against St. Cloud State University.
