Women's Hockey takes 6th in WCHA standings after shutout by Minnesota State

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women's hockey team was shutout, 2-0, by Minnesota State University Mankato this afternoon. The Beavers now hold the No. 6 spot in WCHA standings and will close out the regular season tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Mankato.

The Mavericks earned their spot on the scoreboard in the first period. Brittyn Fleming snuck the puck around Kerigan Dowhy at the 12:53 mark off an assist from Kelsey King. King then went on to score the second goal of the game at the 15:36 mark in the second period, Kennedy Bobyck and Fleming earning assists.

The Beavers now hold the No. 6 spot in WCHA standings and will play either Ohio State University or University of Wisconsin. OSU and UW are currently tied in points and play each other this weekend. Whichever of the two earns at least four points will clench second place in the WCHA and the lesser will host Bemidji State next weekend.

BSU and MSU will close out the regular season tomorrow afternoon at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, Minn. at 2:01 p.m.
