Beavers fall to No. 1 Mavericks in game one of final regular-season road series of the year

Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University men's hockey team fell, 5-1, to No. 1 Minnesota State University Mankato this evening. The Beavers remain in the No. 3 spot in CCHA standings and will finish the road trip tomorrow at 6:01 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center in Mankato, Minn.

The Mavericks' Jake Livingstone added points to the board early during the Beavers' first period penalty kill. MSU made their mark again with a goal from Reggie Lutz with just 1:28 left in the first period, increasing the lead to 2-0. The Mavericks then went on to score two goals from Cade Borchardt and Wyatt Aamodt just two minutes apart to mark the only goals of the second period.

Midway through the third, Owen Sillinger put the Beavers on the board at the 6:57 mark. His late goal wasn't enough to energize the Beavers who allowed one final goal from David Silye four minutes later, ultimately falling 5-1.

Gavin Enright found 24 saves while between the posts for the Beavers. He hosted a .828 save percentage, allowing five goals off of 29 shots on net. Enright allowed two goals on the Mavericks' powerplay attempts.

The Beavers and Mavericks will finish their series tomorrow afternoon before heading back to Bemidji for the last home series of the regular season, concluding with senior weekend.
