Scorching Golden Bears end Beavers season in NSIC Quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Sanford Pentagon) -- Bemidji State University women's basketball's season came to an end Sunday during the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament Quarterfinals following an 85-58 loss to Concordia University-St. Paul. Senior guard Trinity Yoder led BSU with 20 points as the Beavers end their season 14-13 overall.

BSU started cold from the field during the first quarter, missing its first six field goal attempts and giving away four turnovers that led to six CSP points. The Golden Bears jumped on the Beavers with a 16-0 run to start the game before sophomore center Rachael Heittola hit a 3-pointer to stop the streak.

After scoring eight of the final 12 points of the first quarter, BSU saw CSP extend its lead to 19 points, 30-11, with the first six points of the second quarter. The Golden Bears took a 49-27 lead into halftime before the Beavers went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 14, 49-35. CSP answered with a 16-0 run to take a 28-point lead and controlled the rest of the game.

Yoder went 7-of-15 from the field with six rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block while senior guard Coley Rezabek followed in scoring with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

For the second straight season, Bemidji State's season ended at the NSIC Tournament with a winning record. It's the first time finishing consecutive seasons with a winning record since the1994-95, 1995-96 seasons. Heittola and Yoder each earned selections on the All-NSIC Teams while junior Rumer Flatness was named the NSIC Elite 18 Award winner.
